According to Nancie Atwell, Author of The Reading Zone, "it's the simple, miraculous act of reading a good book that turns them into readers, because even for the least experienced, most reluctant reader, it's the one good book that changes everything." It's difficult, however, to find that one perfect book for our reluctant readers, many of whom are boys. Enter Jon Scieszka and his website, http://www.guysread.com/ ! His site is very inviting, especially for boys. It has a search engine associated with Amazon.com so that you can search by favorite book, subject or author. There is information about starting your own "Guys Read" club at your school, complete with a cool poster to print and put up. Check it out and see what you can come up for the "guys" in your class. It's not too late to hook them!
